An East Coast Demerara contractor who was unhappy with his payments is now on the run after allegedly taking matters into his own hands.
Police yesterday said that they are investigating an alleged wounding committed on Amainauth Chinkan, 67, a Regional Councillor of Side Line Dam, Triumph, East Coast Demerara.
However, while the police identified Chinkan as an engineer, there were indications last evening that he was a regional councillor.
The alleged incident occurred about 22:00hrs on Saturday at Enterprise Village, East Coast Demerara.
Police said that they are seeking an Enterprise contractor.
An investigation revealed that the victim and suspect had a misunderstanding over non-payment for works completed by the suspect.
“As a result, the suspect became annoyed, armed himself with a cutlass and allegedly dealt the victim several chops on his left arm and escaped.”
The victim was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he underwent surgery and is at present admitted in a stable condition, police said.
