A 65-year-old security guard was robbed at gunpoint around 06:30 hrs yesterday by a lone bandit on a CG motorbike.
The incident happened on Church Street, Georgetown between Peter Rose and New Garden Streets, Queenstown.
The victim is Jairam Singh of Garnett Street, Kitty. The bandit took the security guard’s cellular phone and almost $5000 in cash.
According to information received, the victim was riding his bicycle in an eastern direction on Church Street when the suspect rode past him and then stopped in his path. He then took out a black gun from his pants waist and pointed it at the suspect, demanding that the victim handed over his valuables.
The victim reportedly panicked, resulting in the lone gunman helping himself to the guard’s belongings. The police said that the gunman then pushed his hands into Singh’s pocket and took his cash and phone.
No arrest has been made as yet.
