Dear Editor,
At the Statutory Meeting of the RDC that was held on Thursday, December 21st, 2017, it was shocking to hear that the Regional Chairman accepts that he did not do any investigation towards matters that were raised at the April 2017 RDC meeting which he committed himself in doing.
At the April 2017 RDC meeting, I brought to the attention of the Chairman and Councillors that a long boom NDIA excavator was used to do private work in the Bath area.
After the denial of such an act by the Chairman, I offered to show photographs that will prove to him that this was true. The Clerk of Council Mr. Ovid Morrison, who is also the REO of the region, backed up my statements and told the Chairman that he was taken to the site and witnessed same being done.
The Chairman then told the council that he would have to do an investigation so that the council can know the truth of the matter at the next RDC sitting. This was recorded and is in the minutes of the RDC.
At that point, I have indicated to the Chairman that we will not proceed at the next meeting unless the investigations are before the council. He accepted and said it will be done by then.
Since May 2017, the Chairman fails to conduct an investigation into the matter knowingly that he is the one who is responsible to conduct the said investigation.
But in December 2017, the Chairman all of a sudden woke up and decided to repent.
He said that he did not conduct an investigation into the matter to date and therefore is asking that we start on a new page in 2018. This man could have said this long before December so that the RDC meetings could have happened.
He had the face to tell this nation and residents of Region 5 that we on the APNU+AFC side are the ones that are causing the problems and do not want the RDC to function.
They will use their supporters in every way that they can in ensuring that they believe lies and deception. They are trying to frustrate the residents of the region especially their supporters in thinking that nothing is being done in Region 5.
The Chairman’s admission speaks volumes because they are the ones who do not want the region to progress.
We on the APNU+AFC side would like the residents to know that we are strongly representing them no matter what and which political party they backed. The government side of the RDC is working towards ensuring that we have a better region and works being done in all villages.
We on the APNU+AFC side will be participating in all RDC matters come to the next RDC meeting in January 2018.
Stand strong with us people of Region 5 and together we will have a better region through unity and at the same time, we will work together towards “Creating A Better Life For All”.
Abel Seetaram
Regional Councillor
RDC Region 5.
