A sensitive issue
Dear Mr. Editor,
Please allow me to express my thoughts on the news caption in the Kaieteur News, “Indian envoy clashes with senior Govt. spokesman over MPs trip to India”.
The invitation to the Guyanese MPs of Indian origin to a conference in India designed to network with the Guyanese leaders of Indian origin is nothing more than political and racist interference in the affairs in Guyana.
The Guyanese MPs are not Indian Nationals. they are Indo- Guyanese whose allegiance is to Guyana. Therefore a special conference for people of Indian origin from the Guyana Government is unnecessary and divisive. The policy of the Coalition Government is to promote National Cohesion and patriotic understanding in Guyana.
The Indian Government should network with the Diaspora in Pakistan. Guyana is a multi-cultural country and the Indo -Guyanese leaders should focus on the greatness and diversity of Guyana to make the country better
Mr. Imran Khan is absolutely correct in his assessment of the situation but Volda Lawrence needs to be sensitive to the need of Guyana.
Long live Guyana and God bless Guyana.
