Government says that 851 candidates from nine secondary schools and four private institutions sat the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in May-June of 2017.
Guyana achieved a 92.57% pass rate with Grades1- 5, against 86.74% last year, an increase of 7%.
-16.47% of the entries attained Grade 1,
-22.90% attained Grade 2,
-22.93% attained Grade 3,
-18.08% attained Grade 4,
-13% attained Grade 5.
100% PASS RATE
One hundred percent (100 %) pass rate (with Grades one to five passes) were obtained in the following thirty (30) units:
Agricultural Science Unit 1 and Unit 2; Art & Design Unit 1 and Unit 2; Computer Science Unit 1; Food and Nutrition Unit 1 and Unit 2; Geography Unit 1 and Unit 2; Information Technology Unit 1 and Unit 2; Animation & Gaming Unit 1 and Unit 2; Spanish Unit 1 and Unit 2; Physical Education & Sports Unit 1 and Unit 2; Digital Media Unit 1 and Unit 2; Entrepreneurship Unit 1 and Unit 2; Green Engineering Unit 1; Logistics & Supply Chain Operations Unit 1; Building & Mechanical Engineering Drawing (Building) Unit 1 and Unit 2; Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology Unit 1; Applied Mathematics Unit 2; Environmental Science Unit 2; Tourism Unit 2 and Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology Unit 2
NEW SUBJECTS AND FIRST TIME OFFERINGS FOR 2017
Green Engineering was written for the first time of which a 100% pass rate was attained.
Animation & Gaming Design was also a new subject this year and was written for the first time electronically along with Digital Media which also attained a100% pass rate.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is informing CAPE students that they will be able to access their official individual results on Friday, August 18, 2017 online at http://results.cxc.org.
It was disclosed yesterday by the Caribbean Examinations Council that CSEC results will be released to member states before close of business on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
Students will be able to access their official individual results on Friday, August 18, 2017 online as advised by the CXC website http://results.cxc.org.
The Ministry of Education will officially announce Guyana’s results on Tuesday, August 22 2017.
