Dear Editor,
I refer to recent articles in the newspapers and thus ask the following questions
1. How can an Appeal Court order a Magistrate Court to cease functioning on a case?
2. Please explain, how can one political party grant an amnesty to another political party for a criminal offence?
3. Are politicians above the law?
4. How can a Government Agency not find finance to recover five million U.S. dollars?
Frankly, the Government should view these matters with serious concern as it reflects very badly on it. Is there any precedent for an Appeal Court interfering with a Magistrates Court before the Magistrate has made a ruling? Can the arguments made at the Appeal Court not be made at the Magistrates Court? Should the Government be interfering with the Judiciary?
