Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my concern about the non-appointment of Melissa Robertson as a judge. Recent reports in the print and electronic media indicate four judges have been sworn in.
Ms. Robertson was senior to all of them in the judicial system. Ms. Robertson has been in the judicial system for 27 years, since 1990 and has made several applications to be appointed as a puisne judge.
Her applications seem to have been ignored.
She served as a magistrate for 13 years and is presently serving as a Commissioner of Title in Berbice.
She was so appointed on 8th September 2010. Ms. Robertson is highly qualified for the position she is applying for.
Now it leaves me to question, why is she being treated this way? Others have come after her and have superseded her. This must be discrimination. I am asking, have the authorities forgotten that she is still in the system?
