Embracing the slogan ‘interactive, accessible, easy’, the Caribbean Examinations Council [CXC] yesterday launched its first mobile application [app]. The app, called CXC Connect, was launched in St Michael, Barbados at the Sky Mall. The launch was streamed live by CXC.
However, Barbados is only one of the four CXC territories where the App will be launched. According to information out of CXC, the next launch of the app will be in Jamaica at the Sovereign Centre and Trinidad and Tobago at Trincity Mall tomorrow [Friday 28 July, 2017]. Another launch will be here on Monday 31 July, 2017 at the Giftland Mall.
The CXC Connect mobile app, which is intended to make communicating with CXC easy and accessible, has been designed to improve communication service to end users and stakeholders such as students, teachers and parents.
According to CXC, the five main features of the app are news feed, frequently asked questions, live chat, events and examinations results.
The CXC Connect App is designed for Android and iOS devices. These include mobile and tablet devices and can be downloaded from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store.
However, in order to get interactive, persons can hook up with Facebook, Google Plus, or by using an email account. Once active, they can then share their favourite posts with their friends on Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and more social media outlets, even as they keep abreast with CXC’s activities.
“Getting results is easy. The CXC connect mobile app now makes it more accessible with faster access right in the palm of your hand,” CXC has highlighted in an advertisement for the new app.
Through the app, persons will be able to send and receive messages, as well as access support, using a chat room. They will also be able to get fast answers to frequently asked questions on various key topics.
“It is accessible and easy to know all of the key CXC events and activities to help you stay connected and access at any opportunity; it’s easy to take control,” CXC has said of the new app, which gives users the privilege of choosing which news and social media platforms they prefer to receive notifications, so that they can be among the first to have CXC updates.
In fact, according to CXC, “with the mobile app it is easy to connect with us by email, phone and interactive chat.”
Launch of the app comes on the heels of announcement made during a press conference held on the sidelines of the recent CARICOM 38th Heads of Government Conference in Grenada, which emphasised the need for more use of information communication technology.
Moreover, it was pointed out that a complete transformation of the education system across the Caribbean is urgently needed, if youths are to be ready for future employment, especially in the rapidly changing technological world.
