Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday determined at the conclusion of the
Preliminary Inquiry (Pl) into the murder of Orin David, who was gunned down in front of his Laing Avenue West Ruimveldt home, that a prima facie case had been established against the two defendants for the murder.
The magistrate told the court that she was satisfied with the evidence from the prosecution witnesses who were led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Vishnu Hunt.
The accused, Jermaine Jeffers, 24, and Howard Rambharose, 25, of Meadow Bank, Georgetown, are currently on remand for the capital offence which allegedly occurred on August 1, 2016.
Based on reports, David a 33-year-old father of five, was killed after one of five men came out of a car and riddled him with bullets.
Two other men, Negus Lamazon, 21, of D’Urban Street, Lodge Georgetown and Samuel McIntyre were charged with David’s murder. However, the matter was discharged against them earlier this year by Magistrate Dylon Bess, who ruled that there was insufficient evidence for them to stand trial in the High Court.
