A pedestrian was struck and killed in an accident around 22:30 hrs Sunday night on Swan Public Road, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway.
The victim has not yet been identified.
According to reports, the driver of motor car HC 6634 was proceeding south along the carriageway when the pedestrian suddenly ran across the road from west to east and into the path of the vehicle.
As a result of the impact, the pedestrian received injuries to his head and body. He was taken to the East Bank Demerara Public Hospital in an unconscious state and was subsequently pronounced dead on arrival.
He was shirtless and clad in a pair of black long pants. The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting identification and post-mortem.
The driver is in custody assisting with the investigation. He was given a breathalyzer test and no alcohol was found.
