Trainee Nurse assaults Dad on Father’s Day

Father’s Day 2017 is likely to be a day that Orin Robin would hardly ever forget.
The 54-year-old West Berbice father is now counting himself lucky after he was struck in the head with a piece of wood by his 23-year-old daughter, a nurse in training. Mr. Robin feels that the situation could have been worse, and he is thankful to be alive.
According to Orin Robin of Number 30 Village, West Coast Berbice, he resides with his wife and two of his children. He had invested in some poultry in order to generate an income. On Father’s Day, around 11:00 hours, Robin was preparing to sell some of the poultry meat when his children, including a third who lives nearby, tried to get in his way.
Mr. Robin reported that one of his children had got into the pen and was trying to get as many of the birds into a bag in an effort to get them away from the pen. Orin Robin responded by blocking the door. There was pulling and tugging of the bag containing the birds when another of the children, a nurse in training, picked up a piece of wood and dealt him a blow on the hand and another to the head.
Upon being struck in the head, the victim passed out, and reports are that he remained motionless for about 15 minutes before regaining consciousness.
The injured man was assisted by other relatives and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
The matter was reported to the police at Fort Wellington, and charges have since been instituted against father and daughter. They each have been asked to post bail in the sum of $10,000.
They are expected to appear in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Thursday June 22.
