Patient jumps to death from hospital window
Mortimer Sagon was the second person to jump to his death from the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH).
Sagon was admitted to the hospital for about a week before jumping from the window in the Male Surgical Ward. He fell on to a septic tank and died on the spot. Sagon was being treated for tuberculosis and hemorrhoids at the hospital.
Kaieteur News was told that the deceased complained to his family about being neglected by the staffers when he asked for assistance. Sagon’s relatives are of the opinion that he may have committed suicide because he was in pain.
Both the police and the hospital have launched investigations.
In October 2012, Vishal Ramotar jumped from a window in the Male Surgical Ward. He had been suffering from chronic renal failure and was complaining for excruciating pains.
