A cane harvester, his son and his nephew, are currently in police custody assisting with investigations after allegations surfaced of a rape they committed on a 12-year-old relative.
The child was reportedly subjected to the act between November 2016 and March 2017, however the matter was only reported to the police on May 15, last.
From reports, the 12-year-old who is a resident of East Canje was allegedly raped by her 18-year-old stepbrother, her 22-year-old cousin who is a carpenter, and her 46-year-old stepfather. She resides with her mother, her stepfather and two other siblings.
A police source revealed that the victim would frequent the home of her stepbrother who resides in the same yard but in a different house to do chores. During those visits her stepbrother and her cousin would commit the act against her will. The 12-year-old victim later confided in her aunt. The matter was then reported after the aunt took immediate action.
Kaieteur News understands that after an investigation was carried out by the Child Care and Protection Agency it was then reported to the police who visited the scene and escorted the victim to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was examined.
The doctors confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. It later transpired that her stepfather had also taken advantage of her.
Investigations are ongoing.
