The family and relatives of the late Carmen Jarvis, will be holding a Memorial Service for Mrs. Jarvis at Smith Memorial Congregational Church, 55 Brickdam, on Friday.
The memorial service would begin at 10:00 hrs.
Mrs Jarvis died in Atlanta, Georgia, United States on March 29, last. She was cremated after a funeral service on April 9, last.
Born Carmen Enid Peterkin Jarvis on November 12, 1924 in Georgetown, Guyana, she was an accomplished woman and a tower of love and strength to her family.
She enjoyed a sixty-three year professional career in Guyana and internationally and has left an inimitable legacy of achievement in education, international development, Girl Guiding, civic and charitable involvement.
The recipient of many accolades, she also authored two books. Mrs. Jarvis is survived by daughters Jennifer King and Alison Knight; grandchildren, Alex and Justin King, Karen and Tracy Knight, and other relatives and friends.
Her daughters are arriving in Guyana tomorrow with Mrs Jarvis’s earthly remains for the memorial service.
Interment at Le Repentir Cemetery will take place immediately following the service.
