Fresh off their recent victory at the OECS Invitational Boxing Championships last month, a five member team has been selected to represent Saint Lucia at the 2017 Caribbean School Boys and Juniors Boxing Championships. This tournament takes place from tomorrow to Sunday at the National Gymnasium in Guyana.
The St Lucia team, Coached by Conrad Fredericks and led by Nathan Ferrari, who copped the Best Boxer Award at this tournament last year, while St Lucia‘s Julie Bonnet, who recently received certification as an AIBA One Star Referee, has been invited to officiate at the Championships.
According the Coach, Conrad Fredericks, the team spirit is high and the athletes are expected to give great representation at the championships. St Lucia dethroned Grenada to become OECS Champions at the end of three exciting nights of boxing held in St Lucia in April.

The Saint Lucia Boxing Association’s (SLBA) President David ‘Shakes’ Christopher, citing the experience gained in Guadeloupe, said the team has been well prepared and he expects good things from them on their trip to South America.
The SLBA expresses gratitude to the Saint Lucia National Lotteries Authority and the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee for funding the team‘s participation at the Championships.
Meanwhile, the Jamaica Boxing Board has named its three-man team that will represent the country in the tournament designed to help develop talent in the region.
Joshua Forrest Davidson (69 kg) and Daniel Hylton (60 kg) would be battling for Jamaica during the two-day tournament. Robert Napier is the coach. (Sean Devers)
