Pork knocker remanded for 2016 murder
Jumar Ralph was yesterday remanded to prison for the February 10, 2016 murder of 25-year-old Richard Culpepper, who was stabbed to death during a heated argument he reportedly had with the murder accused.
MURDER ACCUSED: Jamar Ralph
Ralph, 26, of Lot 45 South Haslington, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that he murdered Culpepper at Sand Hill Landing, Cuyuni River.
Ralph had been on the run for over a year. He was captured on May 4, by police ranks in ‘F’ Division, at Omai, Mahdia.
According to reports, Culpepper of One Mile, Potaro, was imbibing with a group of men when a heated argument broke out during which he was stabbed to death with a knife by a man believed to be Ralph.
It is alleged that after committing the act, Ralph fled into the backlands.
Attorney Eusi Anderson told the court that his client is a father of two “and very innocent of the charge.”
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore indicated that the case file is incomplete since he is still awaiting the post mortem report.
Nevertheless, the Chief Magistrate transferred the matter to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for May 31.
