A security guard attached to the 704 Sports Bar was placed on $200,000 bail after he appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Orlando Gibson, 28 of Lot 5 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, denied the charge which alleged that between April 10 and April 25 at Albert and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown, he stole two bottles Absolut Vodka valued $30,000, three bottles Hennessey valued $63,000, one bottle Jack Daniels valued $21,000, and two bottles Johnny Walker Black Label valued $97,000 from Alfro Alphonso.
The court heard that checks were carried out in and around the Bar and CCTV footage showed the defendant tampering with the cameras situated in the area of the bar.
A report was then made at the station and the defendant was arrested. The court heard that when Gibson was arrested he admitted to taking one bottle Absolut Vodka and one Black Label.
The father of two will make his next court appearance on May 15.
