Dear Editor,
I hereby comment on the praiseworthy letter “Simona T. Broomes waxes lyrical about Minister Harmon” published two days ago in your newspaper
1. Yes lyrical indeed but to what purpose?
2. Is this politician’s daughter seeking employment or hoping to return to Guyana and reap some spoils?
I take umbrage with you dear editor at publishing such a letter which purports to emblazon Joe Harmon who has so far not done anything of significant political advancement for the betterment of Guyana. Yes he is chief spokesman with the main purpose of representing and defending government’s policies and that’s about it. Rightfully he served his 40 days in the wilderness for the grievous deeds he committed in the early stages of this government but the trust he violated then does not seem to have garnered praises for him.
His every word appears suspect and sensibly he is guarded in his expressions. But he does not come across as an acceptable politician except to the dear politician’s daughter Simona, whose mother forgot that she had three mining concessions plus a dragline which dear daughter Simona delayed to accept and sign for. The metaphorical alluding “Although you are not yet a butterfly, I can see the colour of the wings you will produce”, smacks of the Monarch Butterfly, which for all its beauty, flies, and flies far, far away, some four thousand plus kilometers. Good symbolism Simona. That Monarch might one day be in your USA backyard.
