…over stabbing of drinking partner
A 24-year-old pork knocker has been remanded to prison for stabbing his drinking partner to
death with a broken bottle.
Stanislaus Clement, of Surama Village, Lethem, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, yesterday, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Particulars of the charge against him alleged that on April 5, at 111 Miles Mahdia Landing, Potaro River, he murdered Reginald Charles also known as ‘Short Man.’
According to the police, 30-year-old Charles, a miner, and the accused were consuming alcohol at a shop when an argument broke out. A scuffle ensued during which Clement broke a bottle and stabbed Charles to the neck and chest.
Charles managed to run to the Mahdia Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention. Clement reportedly confessed to the crime. The unrepresented murder accused will make another court appearance today before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan for assignment.
