Dear Editor,
I am kindly asking your newspaper to reproduce this letter I have sent to H.E. President David Granger. I am writing to express my frustration over the sloth of the Guyana Defence Force in repairing my vehicle, which was damaged by a member of the GDF almost a year ago. I had written to President David Granger on this issue, and though he had responded positively, the situation regarding my damaged car has not changed. Here is the gist of my letter to President Granger, sent to him on 2016-09-01.
Dear Mr. President; I, the undersigned, am hereby writing requesting your intervention in a case concerning an accident resulting in the destruction of my car by government officials of the Guyana Defense Force. On July 10, 2016, I was driving along the East Bank of Demerara heading for Linden and was involved in a collision with an army vehicle which was coming from Timehri and heading to Georgetown. The matter was taken to court and the soldier, Corporal Dexter Rivers, was charged with dangerous driving. The Guyana Defence Force vowed to fix the vehicle and advised me to leave the vehicle in Georgetown, and this was done.
I have been trying to contact them and query the progress since. To date NO repairs were done and it seems no effort is being made to do same. I am a construction worker and use this vehicle to carry my tools to and fro when doing business. Hence the absence of this vehicle is hindering my livelihood and I have two dependents to maintain. I am kindly and humbly asking that you intervene so the matter can be rectified as was promised. I thank you in advance for your kind consideration. I have attached photos
Mark Mc Ewan.
