Dear Editor,
I hereby make a complaint with regards to the questionable practices of the P.P.P on the Essequibo Coast, Region 2. As a staunch member of the said party, I would not collude with wrongdoing. Just recently, the party concluded the Cheddi Jagan Memorial, flood light softball competition. This competition was organized by the Anna Regina town council and other members of the PPP’s Essequibo branch. This cricket competition was held on the 28th March 2017 at the Walton Hall ground, Essequibo Coast. As was advertised via the PA system and banners throughout the coast, entrance fee for the competition was free, however on the day of the competition teams had to pay an entrance fee of $2000- $4000.
Prizes for the two competitions were advertised as follows; the winner of the (40 yrs.) over competition would receive $40,000, whereas winner of the open category competition would receive a prize of $100,000. To my dismay that didn’t happen, instead a smaller portion of the money was divided between the winner and the runner-up team. I think that the entire competition was dubious by the competition’s organizers since teams had to pay $2000 – $4000 entrance fees, and in the end they received half of an award. We the public would like to know where those entrance fees went, and where is the other half of the cash prize. For obvious reason, I do not want to mention my name. I know I will be ostracized
PPP Essequibo branch member
