RHTY&SC Teams, O-35 Group launch Charity programme for less fortunate families

The teams – Rose Hall Town Farfan & Mendes under 15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division and the Over-35 Group makes up the majority of RHTY&SC Membership and are mandated to successfully complete 200 activities in 2017 as part of the Club’s aim to complete 500 programmes/activities during the year under the sub-headings of sports, culture, education, charity, religious, community development, social, awards/honours, coaching, women’s affair, anti-suicide, anti-drugs, anti-crime among others.
Under the new programme, which was launched last week Wednesday, several less fortunate families each month would be assisted with food hampers and other necessary items to make their lives much easier. The programme would be organised under the theme “No Matter How Poor You Are, There Is Always Someone Poorer Than You” and special emphasis would be placed on the elderly, single parent households and persons who suffer from natural disasters (flood, fires). Only residents from Guyana’s smallest township would benefit under this particular programme as the RHTY&SC feels that it is time for organisations in other areas to get involved in assisting their own.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster hailed the hard work and contribution of the eight cricket teams and the Over-35 Section and hailed them as the cornerstone of the RHTY&SC success story over the last twenty-seven years. The long standing Secretary/CEO disclosed that the Club strongly believes in developing all rounded individuals who understands the importance of assisting the elderly and less fortunate. Club members themselves donate most of the necessary food items for the hampers, while Sterling Products, Food for the Poor and Edward B. Beharry Co. Ltd provides the remainder.
The Club has established a Committee to identify the families that would benefit under the outreach Charity programme and to make sure that the programme is administered according to the ground rules set by the Management. Vice President Mark Papannah, Over-35 Chairman Neville Beaton, Organising Secretary Keith Hicks, Asst. Organising Secretary Ravindranauth Kissoonlall and Executive Member Elizabeth Brusch are responsible for the Programme.
