Georgetown defeated East Coast Demerara by 13 runs on Monday to emerged champions
of the inter association U-17 50-over cricket tournament in Demerara.
Batting first at Ogle, Georgetown posted 177-9 in 50 overs. Sachin Singh struck 52; Ashmead Nedd hit 45 and Devon Allen 26. Rajendra Singh had 2-28 and Chatterpaul Durga 2-33. East Coast Demerara responded with 164 all out in 46.2 overs. Rajendra Singh scored 90 and Andrew Samaroo 13; Nedd snared 3-20 and Joel Spooner 2-23.
On Sunday at the said venue, West Demerara beat East Bank by six wickets. East Bank took first strike and were bowled out for 75 in 23 overs. Ansuega Rodrigues scored 25 and Jeremiah Scott 20; Hemraj Persaud snared 4-11, Elian Whyte 4-34 and Andre Seepersaud 2-12.
West Demerara replied with 76-4 in 22 overs. Kevin Christian made 45 not out and Dextroy Hyman 18. Stephan Wilson had 1-11.
