Dear Editor,
The Guyana Human Rights Association, a tiny grouping, headed by a British expatriate, is sowing seeds of confusion and further divisions among the Guyanese population by deliberately misinforming the nation about the significance of SARU, soon to be become SARA, once the pending legislation is passed in the Parliament of Guyana.
Mike McCormick – the Chief spokesman for this “paper organization”, openly rejects the legitimacy and competence of the current SARU Head, Professor Clive Thomas, as a suitable candidate to become the Director of SARA. He has not put forward any justifiable reason for his public vilification of Professor Thomas, as world renowned economist and writer.
McCormick teams up with the vociferous Jagdeo bandwagon, which is intrinsically linked to Jagdeo’s best friend and alleged business associate, Eddie Boyer, the owner of the city-based Hardware Store.
Boyer has been using the big businessman club, – the Private Sector Commission, comprising not more than a few hundred members, to spout his daily propaganda against the first active civil investigating unit that will begin the process of recovering stolen assets that belong to the people of Guyana. If Boyer has nothing to worry about – why then is he running such an active campaign against SARA?
Boyer is a DIRECT BENEFICIARY of the Jagdeo Government – securing prime lands for the sole purpose of building a housing complex, which only the rich and powerful can afford to buy and live in. His possession was openly defended by Jagdeo at his press briefing on March 17, 2017.
Boyer is essentially a member of the JAGDEO ELITE CLUB. When the investigation touches Boyer, investigator would be fascinated to learn about his assets abroad and how he acquired them. The old adage will suffice: “DO NOTHING – FEAR NOTHING”!
Both Boyer and Mike McCormick have been carrying Jagdeo propaganda – “line, hook and sinker” – to prevent the smooth passage of the SARA Bill and its effort to recover stolen assets from top leaders of the former PPP regime. The PPP and these two outfits have actively carried out a vicious campaign against an orderly and systematic investigation of loss properties and other material resources amounting to hundreds of billions of dollars. The systematic and conscious theft of the country’s resources can only be recovered by the establishment of the appropriate legislation now going through the National Assembly.
Thousands of Guyanese who have lived in abject poverty under the Jagdeo-Ramotar PPP Dictatorship are up-in-arms against this new Jagdeo elite, who made themselves super rich on the backs of the poor of Guyana, driving thousands abroad looking for work to feed their families in Guyana. They are crying for retribution and Mr. Mike McCormick – GHRA is busy preventing the recovery of very valuable resources that will seriously enhance the living conditions and welfare of the poorer section of the Guyanese Society.
