Ex-cop among three committed to stand trial in High Court for murder

Ex-cop among three committed to stand trial in High Court for murder.
and Michael Bishop were committed to stand trial in the High Court yesterday after a Magistrate ruled that a prima facie case was established against the three men accused of killing taxi driver Raphael Campbell.
As a result, the men will stand trial at the next sitting of the Demerara Assizes. Campbell was shot and dumped at Liliendaal, East Coast of Demerara.
According to information Edinboro, Bishop and Collins murdered 30-year-old Campbell of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara, between January 2 and January 3, last year.
It is alleged that Campbell picked up some male passengers on January 2, 2016 in Camp Street. He reportedly took the passengers to East Coast of Demerara, where he was slain. His body was found the following day.
According to Police, on January 3, Edinboro, Bishop and Collins were stopped at a roadblock on the Soesdyke/Linden highway while they were in a black Toyota Premio that was stolen from the murdered driver.
It is also alleged that Edinboro escaped, but Police detained Bishop and Collins.
