Man to stand trial for sodomising woman
Euton Lyttle, 40, was yesterday committed to stand trial in the High Court by Magistrate Dylon Bess at the conclusion of the Preliminary Inquiry in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court which he is charged for sodomy of a woman.
Lyttle was first accused of committing the act on August 8, 2009 to the woman who was 30 years old at the time. He was committed to stand trial in December 2013.
However, the matter was reopened upon directives of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
In 2014 the DPP remitted the matter to the Magistrate’s Court.
In his ruling, Magistrate Bess told the court that he was satisfied with the Prosecution’s evidence and therefore Lyttle was committed to stand trial in the next practicable sitting of the Demerara Assizes.
