Dear Editor,
After being on the minority side for some 23 odd years, one would have assumed that after taking over leadership of Guyana, we would be seeing rapid changes for a better life for all in Guyana; sadly we are daily being forced into extreme hardship.
I would have expected better ideas of governance and creations, instead industries are being forced to downsize, or close and people’s only means of earning legal money to maintain their family are being taken away without a solution, only promises.
For me, it looks as if this administration is hell bent on penalizing everyone for the atrocities that was committed by some of the PPP/C and supporters with their bully attitudes and some of us are too scared or ashamed to condemn their actions.
When Brigadier Retd. David Granger started appointing ex-military officials many were concerned but I was of the belief that they are equipped with the knowledge to deal with many issues effecting Guyana especially our embarrassing crime statistics and the alarming road fatalities that continues to hunts us daily.
Instead they are being paid huge salaries, allowances amongst others and given medals/honors and can’t come up with any meaningful ideas to help Guyana. My honest opinion is that they are there to accumulate what they could achieve in a hurry without any second thought of the public’s opinion. Editor the latest parking fiasco is a typical example of their bullyism and incompetence.
A police officer could drive his/her vehicle and park it anywhere that has a parking meter, without paying. All they have to do is put their police hat or, police shirt on the dashboard of the vehicle and they are okay. I’ve seen a lot of that in Guyana, even when they are driving their heavily tinted vehicles, they would either display their uniform, hat or ID card and they continue to break the law whilst we are being punished.
If those behind the parking meter had any brains, they would have put mechanisms in place to give teachers some sort of identification to put on their vehicles that would identify where they could park free because there are drivers that would claim that they are teachers just to park where teachers are supposed to park at the schools.
Likewise they could have done similar to companies to allow their employees to park either with a contractual arrangement, instead of installing and looking like jokers as they presently are.
