Petition for the demolition of illegal structures on Govt. reserves

Dear Editor,
We the undersigned who are all residents of Georgetown, living within the Sandy Babb/Middleton Streets area, Kitty, wish to take this opportunity to commend The Government and its team on the magnificent work that they have done in our effort to beautify and restore Georgetown to its former glory. It is our most sincere wish to once more claim Georgetown as the Garden City. However, we must draw to your attention the fact that there are some residents in our community who are working assiduously to destroy or oppose the good work that you have managed to accomplish over the past sixteen months.
We say this because we have seen evidence of this in our own Sandy Babb Street, where one resident is in the process of constructing a mechanic workshop on the Government reserve. He also has a number of old vehicles on Sandy Babb Street and Railway line.
This, to our minds, is an utterly reprehensible sight, especially in light of the fact that this government is trying to clean and beautify the environment. Not only are these old vehicles unattractive within the environment, but they also pose a risk to the health and wellbeing of persons living or travelling the area. Additionally, this cluttered area can become a safe haven for criminals and drug addicts waiting to pounce on unsuspecting passersby, especially at nights. We are aware that erecting structures on government reserves is against the laws of the land, hence we are asking for your intervention to have this structure demolished and removed and the area cleared of all these old vehicles and parts.
