Kitty man jailed for wounding cop in shooting

Twenty-one-year-old Kerry Dick of Kitty, Georgetown was yesterday sentenced to 40 months’ imprisonment on a wounding charge. He shot at an off duty police rank.
Dick was found guilty of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Donald McKenzie on April 25, 2015 at William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
The prison term was handed down by Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
According to court facts, Dick and McKenzie had a misunderstanding the night before the incident. On the day in question, Dick went to McKenzie’s home and began discharging a loaded firearm. McKenzie was hit by one of the bullets on his hand. He survived he attack.
Police in a release said that the attack occurred while McKenzie was walking along William Street, Kitty. According to the statement, two men on a motorcycle rode up alongside McKenzie. It was then the pillion rider discharged several rounds hitting McKenzie to the right hand, before escaping.
Police further said that the convict and McKenzie had reportedly been involved in an argument at a beer garden.
