– One person injured, car damaged
At approximately 13:30 hrs yesterday a container truck, reportedly belonging to Muneshwers
Limited, was travelling along Lombard Street when the equipment being transported on the vehicle reportedly caught wires on a utility pole along the said thoroughfare, causing one of the utility poles to snap at its base. However, the utility pole did not fall.
A car that was parked on the street nearby was badly damaged. The owner was reported to have been in Linden at the time of the incident.
Kaieteur News understands that one person was injured. It was reported that a male vagrant was standing behind the now damaged car when he was struck. It is alleged that when an ambulance showed up to tend to the injured man he had already fled the scene. According to eyewitnesses, the man appeared to have sustained head injuries.
