A 16-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed and killed the reputed husband of his lover, was yesterday remanded to prison on a murder charge.
The teenager appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan charged with the murder of Intiaz Ally, 23, an excavator operator, of Lot 121 BB Eccles, East Bank Demerara. The killing occurred on Saturday, last, at Eccles.
The court hearing was held in-camera. The accused was represented by Attorney Mark Waldron and will return to court on December 17.
Several relatives of the accused and deceased turned up in court to witness the brief arraignment.
There are reports that Ally’s 26-year-old reputed wife was involved in a relationship with the teenager. However, the woman has publicly denied being with the accused; although his mother has insisted that they were together for close to four months.
According to reports, Ally and the accused were known to each other.
Based on reports, the accused and Ally’s reputed wife were making their way home on the day in question. Ally, on seeing the parties became annoyed, accelerated the motorcar he was driving and struck down the teen who was riding a bicycle. The teenager made an attempt to escape but was apprehended by Ally, who began kicking and cuffing him about the body.
The suspect, who was carrying Indal’s handbag at the time, whipped out a 10-inch ‘Rambo’ knife from the said bag, and stabbed Ally to the neck.
Ally collapsed and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) by a friend, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
