The Ministry of Social Cohesion in collaboration with Managing Director, Harri Persaud Ramsewak, of Trans Pacific Motor Spares and Auto Sales presented the small community of Ituni, with a fully equipped modernized
ambulance.
Ituni is located 36 miles east of Linden.
Minister of Social Cohesion, Amna Ally, travelled from Georgetown on Thursday, last, to Ituni for the presentation of the ambulance to the Region Ten Chairman, Rennis Morian who then handed it over to the community.
The community is very pleased to finally have their own ambulance, a member of the village said that they have been on the receiving end of “hand me down” ambulances from other communities for quite some time now. Another resident stated, “The cry of the community is finally answered after many years”.
Minister Ally promised the community that they have a lot more things in store for the development of the community. Among other attendees at the presentation was a small group of persons from the community, and professional nursing students from the Georgetown School of Nursing.
The community will fully utilise the ambulance because many times there are serious injuries and patients would need to be transported to Linden for medical attention, also there can be complications with pregnant women who would need to be transported. The ambulance provides comfortable and medical supplies in the case of such incidents.
Many times residents in the area would have to use their private vehicles to transport patients to Linden to seek immediate medical attention. The community is relieved to have their personal ambulance and is very grateful for being considered in this generous offer.
