Pit bull attack…File sent to Police H/Q – ‘D’ Division Commander
After six weeks of investigating, a file into the incident in which four pit bulls claimed the life of a man and attacked two others at Leonora, West Coast Demerara, has finally been sent to the Police Headquarters in Eve Leary, Georgetown yesterday.
This was revealed by Commander of ‘D’ Division, Leslie James (ag) during an interview yesterday.
Kaieteur News understands that once the file has been sent to the police headquarters, it will then be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice as it relates to possible charges against the owner of the dogs, Marceline Small.
After the attack, the Small was placed on $100,000 station bail pending investigation.
The time taken for the investigators in ‘D’ Division to probe the attack had many persons assuming that the case would have been “slipped under the carpet”.
Questions were raised as to why the killer dogs were not taken away from the woman, since it had been determined that she was unfit to take care of the animals.
Reports are that the dogs ran from behind an open gate on September 15, last, and created havoc in the community.
It is believed that they first attacked Wilmark Adams, a GuySuCo worker of Cornelia Ida and Ramanand Bhikam, a security guard of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara (WCD) before killing a vagrant.
The vagrant, who has been identified as “Boxer” was found a few houses away from Small’s residence, with teeth marks about the body. From all indications, the man succumbed to the injury he sustained to his neck.
