The body of a Brazilian national was found at 10 Miles, Port Kaituma on Friday morning with gunshot wounds to the body. The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Mario Cozzer.
According to information received, passersby spotted Cozzer’s body near his bike and immediately notified the police.
Upon examining the body, investigators found gunshot wounds. They believed that the miner was shot and killed during a robbery since a quantity of gold with which he had left the backdam was missing.
Investigators reportedly found the miner’s firearm in his camp and suspected that he might have been murdered by one of his colleagues, who used his (Cozzer) gun to kill him and then take it back to the camp where ranks found it.
This newspaper was told that detectives have come to this conclusion since the miner usually took his gun with him whenever he left the camp. The weapon will be examined.
