Gangadeen Mahase appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly, on Monday, in the Georgetown Magistrate court, and was found guilty of the charge fraudulent conversion. The result is that he will spend the next nine months in jail.
Mahase fraudulently converted three pairs of Panasonic Air Conditioners, property of Rajeshwar Singh. The air conditioners units were solely entrusted to him by Singh for him to sell and return the proceeds. The incident occurred between January 11, and January 26, last.
Police Prosecutor Kevin London told the court that Mahase and Singh are known to each other. The court heard that Mahase instead converted the articles into his own use and benefit.
Mahase admitted to the offence and was subsequently arrested.
