A fine unbeaten half century by Tyrone Pooranauth led Albion Cricket Club to first innings points over Crabwood Creek Bomb Squad in their quarterfinal clash last weekend. He got support from Matthew Hardyal, 46 not out and Adrian Sukwah 36.
The match played at Crabwood Creek ground saw Albion CC winning the toss and inserted the home team who made 129 all out with Devanand Chatterpaul 62 and Z Shaw 37, the only two batsmen offering any resistance. Bowling for Albion CC, off spinner Karan Rajpaul took 3 for 21, pacer Josiah Dhani 3 for 29 and Kelvin Umrao 3 for 30.
In reply, Albion CC raced to 164 for the loss of 1 wicket after which the home team conceded the game.
Matches will continue this weekend.
The quarter finals, semi finals and final will be played over two days. The final is slated for October 28 and 29 at the historic Albion Sports Complex and all the members of the New York based group that sponsored the competition are expected to be present.
The Berbice Cricket Board would like to thank Albion Cricket Club for their input in the tournament.
