Ace Warriors overcome GNIC SC

Ace Warriors defeated host Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) SC by one wicket when the Georgetown Cricket Association New Building Society 40-over second division tournament continued on Saturday last.
GNIC SC batted first and were sent packing for 82 in 24.4 overs. David Dick got 21 and Joshua Persaud 19; Abzal Gafoor claimed 4-10 and Roger Abrams 3-14. Ace Warriors responded with 83-9 in 28 overs. M. Parks made 27 and Gafoor 10. Dick bagged 5-15 and T. Grovesnor had two.
At the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) ground, TSC beat University of Guyana (UG) by six wickets. UG took first strike and were bowled out for 100 in 21 overs. Azem Azeez grabbed 8-26 from 7.5 overs, while Keon Morris had 2-27. TSC responded with 101-4 in 24 overs. Shawn Massiah made 31 and Rafael Singh 20 not out. Dennis Heywood had 3-18 from seven overs.
At Bourda, GCC thumped Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) by eight wickets. MSC fell for 65 taking first strike; GCC reached 66-2 in reply.
At the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), the host went down to Muslim Youth Organisation by four wickets. Batting first, GYO made 146 all out in 26.5 overs, with John Champagne scoring 43. Shafeek Ishmael snared 5-13 and Roopesh Motilall had three. MYO got to 147-6 in reply.
