Gunmen strike at Digicel’s Vreed-en-Hoop outlet

– Carted off cellular phones in garbage bags
Three gunmen carried out a brazen robbery on Digicel’s Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD)’s outlet around 14:00 hrs yesterday, escaping with all the company’s cellular phones in garbage bags.
The men, who could have barely carried the stolen items, escaped in a white Toyota Allion that was waiting outside of the store.
Investigators are hoping that video footage which will be made available some time today will make it easy for them to identify the gunmen and their getaway car.
According to information received, the three men entered the store and pretended to be customers interested in a Samsung galaxy cellular phone. When most of the customers had left, one of them pulled out a gun and demanded that everyone lie on the floor.
There were one customer and three staffers.
The men then emptied all the cellular phones into two garbage bags before escaping. The staffers and customer were also robbed of their valuables.
Two Saturdays ago, three bandits stormed a phone company which is a dealer store of Digicel on Sheriff Street, Georgetown, and escaped with a number of high-end phones. No one has been arrested for that robbery.
