A series of gunshots rang out at about 13:10hrs yesterday, on Brickdam in the vicinity of the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) building.
When Kaieteur News arrived on scene, ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) were conducting investigations.
Jerome Khan, an Attorney at Law, who has an office in close proximity to the incident, said that when he came out to see what was happening, he noticed spent shells on the ground. The Attorney said that an oriental man seemed to be subject of whatever attempt was made. Moreover, he could not give any information on whether the man was injured or not.
“What I do know, he is currently under the protection of the United Nations in their building.”
It was also disclosed that a vehicle hastily left the scene, with the gunmen.
Khan said that Brickdam is known as a peaceful area that houses several Embassies, Government Ministries and churches.
“So this is highly unusual for something like this to happen here.”
