While it takes years sometimes for the relatives of murdered victims to find justice, it only took three months for family members of 28-year-old Orrett West to find closure.
Friday night, police snooped down on a house at Albouystown, Georgetown and arrested the 19-year-old suspect, Kevin Garraway, who has been on the run since June 03, last. He has subsequently confessed to the murder.
According to the suspect, he and the victim had a confrontation during which he stabbed him to the chest before escaping.
The father of one was stabbed to death at a popular liming spot in Vigilance, East Coast Demerara (ECD) in full view of his girlfriend, who had identified Garraway to the police.
According to information received, the mechanic and his killer had an argument during which he was stabbed to death.
The police said that investigation revealed that the father of one was in company of his girlfriend, when an argument ensued between him and a man, with whom he had an ongoing dispute.
During the argument, the assailant pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed West in the region of his heart and escaped.
