TV reporter/ anchor robbed at gunpoint

Two months after bandits “cleaned out” her La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD) home, a Safe-TV reporter and news anchor is frustrated and terrified after being robbed at gunpoint around 19:00 hrs on Thursday.

Rehana Ahamad was robbed by one of two bandits on motorcycles while walking out of David Rose Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens, Georgetown after work.
The bandits escaped with the reporter’s handbag containing her Passport, Identification card, money and other valuables.
In an interview, the reporter said that she was heading to Aubrey Barker Road, to get transportation when she observed two motorcycles speed past her.
Ahamad said that at first she paid no attention to the men since she thought that they were normal civilians. “I’m walking, next thing I know, a young man who looks just about my age is yanking on my bag.”
The first thing that came to her mind was to grab the man by his throat but before she could have raised her hand, the youngster pulled a gun out from his back pocket and pierced it to her abdomen.
Frightened and helpless, the 21-year-old reporter surrendered after which the men escaped.
What is strange though, a woman viewed the entire ordeal from her window and when the men left, she locked the window without trying to offer any help to a frightened and confused young woman.
Instead, the reporter was forced to continue walking out of the lonely street where someone was waiting on her on the main road.
A report was made to the East la Penitence police station where the matter is under investigation.
Anyone who may have come across the reporter’s passport of ID is asked to drop the items to any media house.
