An exposition on the meaning of change

Dear Editor,

In this world of changing values and high-tech analogies that appear authentic, yet spurious and artificial, we would be alarmed if the truth be told. A young person comes on stage and declares, I want to change the world with this rendition, poem or song. And so they expostulate with tenacious passion and amazing energy.
A preacher comes on Sunday morning and preaches down fire from Heaven and declares change is here. An athlete on the track and footballer on the field want to change the fortunes of their club or team and change the world.
These ambitions are real, and the essence of change is more than what is seen or heard. The reality is more challenging than the perception. The core issue of change lies within one’s inner being. The question should be asked: should I embrace a degree of change from within or should I continue to pursue change from without?
Editor, one may have all the necessary support systems [family, friends, finances, degrees, accolades in place to win a war), but if the mind is programmed to think less than what is perceived then real change will be a passing thing. Change can only be change when the mind is engaged in a process of change from within.
What good [change] can be done for a captain of a huge ship for fifteen [15] years, whose knowledge and experience in navigating through many storms and dangers on the high seas cannot be debated: When in reality he stumbles in his drunken stupor when he is on land? What can be said of a national footballer whose skills gain him victory at most games, but off the field, he lands in trouble with the Law?
What could be said of a brilliant politician who sat in parliament and vigorously debated a Bill with such convincing arguments that won him the day, but in the darkness of night is imbibing and womanizing? Yes Mr. Editor, do we really need to embrace a perspective of change that is superficially and callously prepared so that the real dynamics of change is overlooked? Can we as a people for fifty years [Jubilee] embrace a moral and ethical way of life that clearly spells out change?
Yes we can! If and when we embrace a more excellent way! Changing the world you live in before, changing the world around you, will bring great rewards.
