Two men were refused bail on illegal firearm charges after they made an appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, yesterday.
Marlon King, a construction worker, of 31 Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, is accused of having a .32 pistol in his possession on September 3, when he was not the holder of a firearm licence. It was further alleged that on the said day, he had nine live rounds of .32 ammunition in his possession without being the holder of a firearm licence.
Meanwhile, Francis Roberts of 41 Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, is accused of being in possession of a 12-gauge shotgun cartridge when he was not the holder of a firearm licence.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones did not relate any facts about what transpired on the day in question to the court. However, in relation to the second charge, the prosecutor told the court that the file is incomplete since an analyst report is still outstanding from the case file.
King was instructed to return to court on September 28, while Roberts will return on September 27.
