Singh made contact with Kaieteur News yesterday expressing his relief that the road leading to the loading bay of his business – DIDCO Trading Company – on Ramp Road, Ruimveldt, is now being rehabilitated after more than a decade.
The businessman claimed that the former Minister of Public Works, Robeson Benn, was instructed by Jagdeo to not fix the road located at the western end of the DIDCO compound.
He added that because of this he was highly inconvenienced.
Singh said that the ‘spitefulness’ doled out to him by Jagdeo, directly affected the other agencies that utilise the road, including the Coast Guard and the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo).
“Now that the new government is in, the road is being done. Before, the Coast Guard and GuySuCo (vehicles) had to drive through big holes in front by me. Jagdeo had spite me,” Singh said.
When this publication visited the site yesterday, preparatory works were being carried out, and a worker who requested anonymity, said that the works are likely to be completed in a few days.

When Publisher of Kaieteur News, Glenn Lall, saw the comments made by Singh, he pointed out that he too was a victim of such actions by the Former President. He stated that all the roads in his area were rehabilitated – except for the street in which he resides.
Lall said that for years, the residents of Lindley Avenue, Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara, had to put up with the deplorable condition of the road and after complaining to the authorities, he had learnt that Jagdeo had instructed the now deceased veteran Engineer, Walter Willis, to not fix the road in front of his home, along with a street adjacent to it.
Lall believes that this was the price he had to pay for his firm stance against corruption in Guyana during a time when it was most rampant. He expressed dissatisfaction that even though there was a change in Government, the road ‘still looks like a trench’ when the rain falls.
Lall said that in addition to Singh, there are many others who were made to endure years of improper infrastructure, among other things, because they refused to align themselves or to see eye-to-eye with the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Government.
Meanwhile, reports have indicated that Veteran Journalist, Enrico Woolford had also claimed that he was victimized by Jagdeo. Woolford, who resides in Stevedore Housing Scheme, had stated that all the streets in his area were rehabilitated in the past, except for the street where he resides.
