A 25-year-old man was shot to the head, shoulder and leg on Wednesday night when a gunman fired several shots into the bedroom in which the victim and his girlfriend were sleeping at Brusche Dam, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.
The incident occurred around 23:00 hrs.
The shot man has been identified as Brinsley David. He was still in the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s Recovery Room up to late yesterday.
In a release, the police said that investigations so far revealed that David was shot when his girlfriend left to use the washroom. Upon her return, she saw someone pointing a black object through the bedroom window and shortly after, there were several loud explosions.
The injured man was immediately rushed to the hospital.
This newspaper was informed that David’s relatives have provided the police with information on the man who they believed shot him.
A woman, who identified herself as a cousin, claimed that David and the alleged shooter had an issue five years ago.
Police are yet to make an arrest.
