Lindeners pleased with Guyana Watch visit

The United States-based Guyana Medical Watch team continued their one-week tour of Guyana with a visit to the Mackenzie Primary School in the bauxite mining Town of Linden yesterday.
The team offered dental services and treated patients for Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, rashes and joint pains much to the satisfaction of the residents there.
One resident, Edward Charger, said that it’s an excellent venture. “A lot of people came here thinking that they are healthy but the results show something different. This clinic is very beneficial for us in that, it helps to put us on the right track,” he lamented.
Allison Cort stressed the need for more such programmes. “It’s a very good venture and we need more such clinics. I really admired the way in which it was conducted. The doctors are very courteous and I would like to congratulate them and hope they keep up the good work,” she noted.
Mandy Hercules was full of appreciation for the team. “We don’t really get this kind of hospitality at our local clinics. Sometimes we have to wait for a lengthy period before we can get to see someone, but the members of this team are very friendly. We really appreciate the services rendered,” she explained.
Marvin Hartman, who is employed with the National Insurance Scheme, welcomed the venture adding that it has served the community well. “Medical outreach here would usually be organised by churches and would be very small and far apart, so this is a wonderful gesture especially for the children and elderly,” he related. The medical team treated 232 residents receiving treatment.
The clinic continues today at Timehri Primary School.
