Dear Editor;
I have read Rawle Lucas’ [RL] letter ‘AN INSIDE JOB AT GRA’
and have done some careful reading while noting the dodges:
1. I have every reason to believe what the “Name Withheld”
person wrote
2. RL’s lengthy exposition carefully dodged most of the matters
3. in Guyana past and present it is not unusual for close associations to develop between boss and assistant, so in that vein there can be both fact and fiction applicable. There was no need for RL to go into so much detail on the work involved. A simple statement that there is no association going on would have sufficed, but……
4. Fact and rumour in Guyana are generally 99% related as Guyanese see and talk freely, and on top of that add their flavour to matters, something that RL probably overlooked
5. Not using the offices the GRA seems most odd, and the excuses proffered appear to be specious, further compounded with explanations of being on call lots of time. Makes sense to work in the GRA offices but obviously other reasons play more important parts
6. the repetitive attacks on and smirks at KN seem pointless as KN first sought a response before publishing, but apparently some conceit took over while a written response was artfully drafted. I dismiss all of the odd comments made on the good name and excellent works of KN
I think RL should demit his position for he is spread too thin and is probably pressed for time to review, decide and get approval for actions he wants to pursue. It might be that some acts are done hastily and the fact that staff morale is low could be indicative of fear of crossing paths with RL.
RL should demit and if he does not demit, the Minister should send him packing now. Do not forget that he has already crossed paths with a minister and I doubt if he could safely mutter like Oscar Clarke did; “ I have no apologies to make. I getting like Mister Harmon”.
