Clarke retains Mr. Guyana crown, Abrahim, Bacchus, Campbell, Ganpat excel

Kerwin Clarke of Buddy’s Gym successfully defended his Mr. Guyana title when the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation staged its 2016 championships on Sunday night at the National Cultural Centre.
The main event of the evening handed the judges their most arduous task after the respective category winners competed for right to be labeled Mr. Guyana. When the athletes took to the stage they provided the fans with much entertainment who cheered on their favourite bodybuilders throughout.
The athletes did well in displaying their well toned, chiseled and shredded bodies, and as it came down to homestretch the fans were heard shouting for Clarke and had their desire when the final result was announced.
Clarke though had to be on top of his game to be crowned champion with athletes such as Eustace Abraham and Zallim Bacchus competing.
The battle of the heavyweights was saw Abraham of Total Fitness gym prevailing over Julio Sinclair of Space Gym and Rhon Loncke of Fitness 53 respectively.
Abraham outclassed his rivals with mass, definition and shape.
Rasleigh Bentick of Fitness Paradise won the lightweight crown while Bertrand Bacchus took the Bantamweight title. The Flyweight segment was a tough call with Zallim Bacchus of Taj Mahal gym and Anil Persaud of Fitness 53 leading the duel. Bacchus’ upper body was well sculpted as well as his thighs and claves, and this gave him the nod.
The Welterweight division saw some fierce battle among Sylvester Andrews, Jermaine Bacchus and Jamal Inniss, but Andrews of Fitness 53 did fine in displaying his well-developed body and took the title; Bacchus of the said gym placed second and Jamal Inniss of Fitness Paradise finished third.
Clarke grabbed the Light middleweight crown ahead of Godfrey Stoby of Fitness 53, while Zallim Bacchus won the U21 segment; Jamal Inniss of Fitness Paradise came second.
The Miss Bikini was taken by Kavita Ganpat of Tag Mahal, while Juanita Pluck of Buddy’s took the runner up spot. Pluck tasted success by winning the Miss Body Fitness.
Bertrand Fitzpatrick of Muscle Pro took the masters title, while Mulchand Alves of interline Fitness placed second.
The Men’s Physique went to Emmerson Campbell of Fitness 53, Stefan Grimes of Body Max was second and Coerus Cipriani third. Female guest poser was Domini Allen of Barbados, while three-time CAC gold medalist Stevenson Allen of Barbados appeared as the male guest poser.
Both provided awesome entertainment for the fans.
