A jilted man inflicted several stab wounds on his 29-year-old ex-lover after emerging from a dark corner in her yard at around 20:30 hrs on Saturday.
Selina Ramotar of Lot 65 David Street, Kitty, Georgetown was stabbed to her breast, hands, stomach and face by the suspect.
She has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital, but is said to be in a stable condition.
A sibling of the victim said that her sister was attacked after returning home from purchasing dinner.
She said that her sister and the suspect had separated some time ago and he is now married with three children.
The sister said that the man began making threats on her sister’s life after she decided to sever their relationship.
After the stabbing, the sister recounted that residents from the area apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the police.
The sister said she learnt of the incident after receiving a phone call from another sibling.
The suspect is in police custody.
