Dear Editor,
Please allow me a space in your newspaper to express the struggle I, a poor man, have to go through in order to collect the little benefits I am entitled to. My name is Raman Khan and I am a 62-year-old security guard employed by Property Protection Agency for more than 18 years.
In February of this year, I took ill and was given 21 days sick leave. My health deteriorated and I was given another 21 days the following month. I was paid for the sick leave up to this point. Because of my age, I took ill on the job again with the doctors diagnosing me with High Blood Pressure and High Blood Sugar.
I was given more leave in April and May. However, the company has refused to pay me and even refused to give me my job back. Now, this is a company that I have given 18 years of my life to and it pains to see the treatment I am receiving now in my old age. We all know the salary security guards receive. It’s nothing big but it certainly put food on my table and I was thankful. Now I am without a job with a family to take care of.
Raman Khan
